Increasing Payment Options

When a seller decides to accept credit card payments, they give buyers the option of using a credit card for their purchase and make payments for purchases more convenient for both the buyer and the seller. Buyers can purchase without having to provide cash or a check. With credit cards as a payment option, sellers can simplify the payment transaction, speed up the payment process and minimize their need to handle cash.

Those Who Lived During the Depression Have Better Fiscal and Financial Responsibility

Posted by bharat

Not long ago, a New York State College Professor of economics had made an extremely astute comment about the generational divide on fiscal and financial responsibility in noting that those who lived during the depression and for a few decades after thought of money much different than the current younger generation now.

Indeed, most would concur and even I tend to agree very much that after the depression people were more frugal, saved more money and handled their financial affairs with greater responsibility. We are now watching the shifting demographics and those who grew up in the depression are the middle to older baby boomers, and it appears the underling generations did not learn that lesson very well. That's too bad.

Very concerned with the credit card issues, as folks are paying interest the wrong way, instead of allowing it to work for them they are paying often in excess of 18% the wrong way. That is unsustainable over time, as compounded interest and growth can be your best friend, but in reverse; it's economic enslavement indeed.

Fact is, I wonder if our college professor has noticed at his college that credit card applications show up around campus? I can remember giving speeches on business topics and seeing credit card applications lying around with promises of free-gifts for kids that sign up.

As I understand it the average graduate has in excess of $10K in credit card debt - I bet he could verify that figure, and if so, that's just disgusting really? Of course, as a Friedman economist type myself, they were free to choose, too bad they made such horrible choices? Please use credit wisely, value money, save, and consider all this.

Credit Cards With Low Rates

Posted by bharat

If you're the type that can't pay your credit card bill off in full each month, you may want to look into a card with low interest rates. Why should I look into a card with low rates? Low rates are great because instead of paying higher rates on your unpaid balances, you can pay a lower rate. Even if the rate is 1% lower, you can save hundreds depending on your balance.

How do I find one of these cards?

There are so many cards out there, it's important that you do your research first because if the card does have a low rate, it doesn't necessarily it is a great card. You may find that with some cards out there that they will have an annual fee and that could offset the interest rate making it not even worth it.

What I tell people in the long run is that you should pay your bill off in full each month because you're not going to see interest rates being tacked onto your account. It can be hard for some but with a lot of discipline it can definitely happen. Even if you can't find a low APR based credit card, go out and look for balance transfer cards or great deals. Back in the day, Discover offered a 0% for life that would stay on your account as long as you used the card at least twice a month. These rates are hard to come by today but every once in a while they do pop up.

Why Not a Prepaid Credit Card?

Posted by bharat

Why not a pre-paid credit card? It's a well tried and tested concept after all and quite straight forward. We're all used to prepaid phone cards, prepaid gift tokens and prepaid gas and electricity meters. The prepaid credit card simply takes the same logic a further step forward, with the added novelty of it being a "credit card without debt"! For those who have struggled to keep spending on their "plastic" within reasonable bounds, prepayment could represent a heaven-sent opportunity to finally knock their domestic budget into shape.

In fact, it's probably something of a misnomer to call it a prepaid credit card, since no credit is involved and, therefore, there's never any interest to pay. Whenever you use it (in exactly the same way you would use any of your other plastic), you'll only be spending money that you've already loaded onto your prepaid card. So, there's never any danger of getting into any debt on a prepaid card.

You load money onto the card in much the same way as any other prepaid facility - namely, by cash, by bank transfer or by using another credit card. Since your prepaid credit card is also a MasterCard or Visa, you can use it anywhere that MasterCard or Visa is accepted, at home or abroad. Using it abroad, of course, would give you a very handy and rather more convenient alternative to carrying travellers' cheques - with the added reassurance that it's not going to let you overspend on your holiday money! Furthermore, if the card is lost or stolen, you can simply contact the issuing company, and they'll send a replacement.

The prepaid card offers the same protection against fraud as regular credit cards. So if you use it to shop online or over the telephone and the card's been used fraudulently, you can recover the loss. A card also offers greater safety than cash when it comes to carrying it around, so it could be an appropriate alternative for use by children or the more vulnerable (the jury's probably still out on this one though, and many issuers still limit the use of prepaid cards to those over the age of 18).

As you can imagine, the issuing companies love the idea of a prepaid card, since your use of them is practically risk-free. There's no need to check your credit status or history, so prepaid credit cards are issued more or less on demand.

So, is there a catch? Not so much a catch, as the relatively high cost at the moment of using a prepaid credit card. Because they're a relatively novel idea, competition in the market has probably not yet brought the costs as low as they might become. In the meantime, therefore, you should make your choice of card-provider on at least some of the following considerations:

* Will you be charged for simply opening a prepaid credit card account?

* Is there a monthly service charge, and, if so, what exactly do you get for it?

* Is there a charge each time you want to load credit onto the card?

* Will the places that accept your cash to top-up the card also charge for that service?

* Is there a charge for using the card or withdrawing cash on it, including internet purchases?

* Will you be charged for having the card sent to you by express delivery?

* Is there a charge for closing your account?

* Will you be charged for replacing the card, in the event that it is lost or stolen?

* Do you have to pay a fee each time the card is renewed (i.e. upon each expiry date)?

Visa Black Card Requirements - A Review

Posted by bharat

The Visa Black card has created quite some buzz in the financial industry. It's a new luxury card that is designed for the rich. It not only gives you huge spending power but it comes with a lot of perks that don't even make sense to some of us mortals. Barclays Bank has designed the offer for less than 1% of the American population. That means unless you have perfect credit-score, you may want to spend your time and effort signing up for another offer. And you can tell from the annual fee that the program is not designed for the average Joe.

The Visa-Black-card comes with a $495 annual fee that you will be paying each and every year for the privilege of using such a cool looking credit-card. Here is what you get with the Black-card:

  • Limited Membership (1% of U.S. Residents)
  • 1% cash back on purchases or $1 = 1 points that can redeemed for travel anytime
  • 24-Hour Concierge Service
  • Exclusive Rewards Program
  • Luxury Gifts
  • Patent Pending Carbon Graphite

The exclusive rewards program and the luxury gifts make this program worth your while. It's true that you'll be paying a big fee to keep your black-card, but you will be one of the few who actually quality for such program. While the Visa Black requirements are not specified by Barclays, here is what I have found out after researching on the Internet:

  • You need to spend a lot of money each year (well in thousands a month).
  • Perfect FICO score. No blemishes or anything derogatory.
  • U.S. Residence and a social security number.
  • A lot of money to spend (could use it for your business but it's a consumer program).

The Visa Black Card requirements are more than most of us can handle. But if you qualify for this offer, you are going to enjoy the rewards and benefits provided exclusively to cardholders by Barclays.

Credit Card Processing

Posted by bharat

There is a lot that goes into processing credit cards. There are several decisions along the way such as which provider and payment gateway to choose. And a lot of questions involved such as how to securly accept credit cards on-line and how to minimize processing charges. We have written a number of articles on these topics which you can view below. We want to make it easy and affordable for you to process credit cards.

  • How to Process Credit Cards at a Flea Market
If your business operates at flea markets, you may not realize that you still have the ability to accept credit cards from your customers. It's no secret that shoppers spend more money when they use their credit card, so you definitely want to offer your flea market customers a way to swipe those cards to increase your sales volume.
  • Choosing the Right Credit Card Processing Company
There are many credit card processing companies to choose from, how do you know which one you should go with? Will they benefit your company? Are they affordable? Are they reliable? The internet can be a great tool for finding the right credit card processing company. Do your homework, determine which one has the features you need and are looking for in a company.
  • Credit Card Processing Options for Home-Based Business Owners
Are you the owner of a home based business that wants to be able to accept credit cards payments from clients or customers, without all the high fees that typically go along with it? Well, now you can thanks to e-commerce and the internet.
  • Merchant Account Fees: Are they Worth it?
Merchant account services are the services that allow you to accept credit cards as payments, both online and off, and help you handle the credit card transaction processing. Without merchant accounts, your customers would have to pay with cash or check- and believe it or not, most customers will spend more if they can swipe their card and worry about the bill later.
  • Credit Card Processing Security Concerns
As an online merchant accepting credit card payments, you have numerous security issues that you must be aware of for the safety of your business and your consumers. At this time, there are two main aspects of credit card security for credit card processing, including “AVS” and “CVV”. Both allow credit card transactions to be completed anonymously over the internet, and any merchant accepting credit cards online should require both forms of information of your customers.
  • Merchant Account Fees to Business Owners
As a business owner, when you set up a merchant account to enable your customers the ability to pay for your products or services using credit cards (or debit cards with a Visa or Mastercard Logo), you will have some fees associated with the credit card transactions.
  • Third Party Credit Card Processors
If you’re a small business or just starting out, you may not feel ready for a merchant account. Obtaining a merchant account is not usually considered difficult, however, for a newly established business it isn’t always feasible to run out and a merchant account immediately. Starting a business is often costly and risky to begin with- you do not need to go out and spend money on optional features (like a merchant account) until you know whether or not your business is going to succeed, and whether or not you’ll have the need to accept credit cards from customers.
  • Increase your Sales By Accepting Credit Cards
It’s a given that running an online business means that you need to accept credit cards. If you don’t then you are losing as much as 70% of your sales to competitors who do accept credit cards according to an article published by Forbes Magazine. But it’s not just online businesses that suffer lost sales by not accepting credit cards. That same 70% figure, and higher in some cases, is applicable for off-line businesses as well.
  • How To Choose A Credit Card Processing Provider
In order to accept credit cards either online or through your physical storefront, one of the things you are going to need is an account with a credit card processing provider. A Credit Card Processing Provider is a company that manages the interface between your credit card terminal or shopping cart software and the Visa/Master network.
  • Get Credit Card Processing for your Internet Business
One of the best features of owning an online-based business is the amount of money you save on start up costs, and ongoing overhead in comparison to businesses with physical locations. Not only do you not have to pay high rental or mortgage payments for the space, but you save on utilities, business insurance, and even credit card processing accounts.
  • How To Combat Credit Card Fraud
Mail Order companies and E-Commerce Web operators are constantly faced with a higher chance of incurring a fraudulent credit card transaction than are merchants who operate physical storefronts.
  • Benefits to Businesses Accepting Credit Cards
Many business owners report a sharp increase in profit when they begin accepting credit cards as a means of payment. Credit cards allow customers who do not have the money on hand to make purchases from you despite their personal shortage of cash, and they also open the door to customers who simply make all of their purchases by credit card or debit card each month- as there are many people who prefer to make a single payment for all their monthly expenditures when their statement arrives.
  • How Credit Card Processing Works
It seems all too simple. You walk up to the checkout counter, or you hit a web site’s checkout page, you whip out your credit card and – in seconds – you’ve paid for your purchase and you’re on your way.
  • What is a Merchant Account?
Merchant accounts are bank accounts that make it possible for a business to accept a credit card and/or a debit card as payment. While the accounts are offered through ordinary banks, they are not the same as the checking or savings account you have with your local bank.
  • Evaluating Credit Card Processing Companies
There are numerous credit card processing companies to choose from, each offering different features and fees. Choosing a company to process your customer's credit card payments can be a daunting task, and sometimes you'll experience difficulties both looking for a merchant account provider and then afterwards- if you make the wrong selection!
  • Securing Online Payments
A study by TNS Research in August of 2006 shows that 87% of online shoppers are concerned with credit card fraud and 85% of online shoppers are concerned about identity theft when providing their credit information online.

UK Credit Card and Debt Consolidation Loans

Posted by bharat

You have got several credit and store cards and several loans. You are finding it difficult to make the payments each month. Generally you do make the required payments but this means that other parts of your like are suffering. You’ve got no spare cash for the occasional night out or weekend away. Even making the minimum payments each month means that the outstanding amounts are never reducing.

The equity in your house.

If you have owned your house for several years there is a chance that you have something called equity. This is the difference in the current value of the house and the total amount of the outstanding mortgage. So if you have an outstanding mortgage of £80,000 and your house is now valued at £170,000 you have got equity of £90,000. There are certain companies that will lend you money based on this equity. They are safe and secure in the knowledge that if you default on your payments that they can get their money back by selling your house. That’s the small print “Your home is at risk if you do not keep up payments…”

You can use this new loan to pay off all your current credit cards and loans and have a reduced monthly payment. This method of using the equity in your house is called loan consolidation.

Current loans and credit cards

Lets says that the total amount outstanding on you credit cards, store cards and loans is £20,000. If the equity on your house is £90,000 you should have no problem getting a second mortgage of £20,000. However you will still need to be in employment and prove that you can make the monthly payments.

Documentation.

Before you apply for a second mortgage with the intention of paying off your existing debts you should get all your paperwork together. This will save you time and make the loan process much quicker. Here is a list of the documentation that you will need. Different loan companies will ask for different things so just get all the documents together ready for whatever they want.

Last three months payslips.
Last three months bank statements.
Council Tax bills.
Electricity bills.
Gas bills.
Water bills.
Marriage certificate.
Passport.
Driving licence.

Not all those documents are essential but it will slow the process down if you don’t have them available.

You’ll also need full details of the credit cards, store cards and loans that you want to pay off. This includes the name of the companies, the account numbers and the outstanding amounts.

The new company will actually issue with individual cheques that you send to these companies, you don’t actually get a cash payment to yourself.

Caution

Let’s say that your loan application has now been processed, you have paid off all those outstanding debts. The weight has been lifted off your shoulders. You now need to be very careful. If you run up any more debts at this point in your life then you will be in deep trouble.

Make sure you cut up and return all but one of your credit cards. You need to keep one so that you can use it for purchasing things on the internet and making hotel reservations etc. Maintaining one credit card will ensure that you keep a good credit history. Do not apply for any new credit cards or loans.

Your monthly payments on the new loan will be significantly lower than the total of your previous credit card payments. But, you need to take advantage of this situation, it is no use spending the extra money on useless luxury goods. You have to use this opportunity to stabilise your financial life. I suggest that you save at least half of the extra money that you now have each month. This will give you the chance to build up a buffer in case you suddenly find yourself unemployed.

If you need some help in deciding to be disciplined just consider what your life will be like if your home is repossessed.

The bad news

Although your monthly payments are now lower, the reason for this is that you will be paying the loan off over a much longer period. This is how the loan companies make their money. And because you are paying the loan off over a much longer period you will also be paying a lot more than the value of the actual loan. For this reason it is vitally important that you discuss all possibilities with your Independent Financial Advisor.

Credit Card Application

Posted by bharat

Applying for a credit card is not difficult. All it takes are some documents that are required by the credit card company and a good financial history.

Getting a credit card application is a typical scenario that most Americans have probably experienced at some point in their lives. The reasons for this are as diverse as the people who use them, although some of the most common reasons why they apply for a credit card include safety (it minimizes the risk of carrying any cash with you while you're purchasing something), convenience (you don't need to go to the bank to withdraw cash), easy access of records (so you can easily check for credit mistakes and purchases that you've made).

Applying for a credit card is not difficult. All it takes are some documents that are required by the credit card company and a good financial history. However, no matter how simple it is, there are some areas that should be given more emphasis in the application process. Here are some of the common concerns you need to be aware of.

The importance of good credit.

When you say good credit, this means that you regularly pay your bills and debts on time. In addition, you regularly check your credit reports. This is very important, particular for those who are applying for credit card for the very first time. You have to remember that any mistakes on your report will adversely reflect on your rating. So make sure that there are no loose ends or suspicious transactions on your credit report.
Those who belong to the "Applicants With Poor Credit."

If you are under this category, be very careful. Most credit card groups are easily discouraged when they see that you have a poor credit history, and chances of them approving your request might be difficult and highly unlikely on your part. One thing you can do, though, is to avoid applying to those companies who are strict when it comes to good credit records. Don't waste your time on them, as they will instantly reject your application once they see that you don't reach their qualifications. And when this happens, it may even add more damage to your credit, making it much more difficult for you the next time around. By the way, if you are rejected, don't reapply for another credit card right away. Wait at least three months before you make another attempt.

Remember to always verify the eligibility criteria before you decide to go for a credit card application. This will save you a lot of time, and decrease your chances of getting avoidable rejections. Try targeting those companies who offer cards for those with poor credit.

The importance of honesty

Most people ask if it's okay to tinker with details when filling out their application form. DON'T. And don't even be tempted to lie on your application form. These credit card companies mean business, and they hire good people to make sure that deceptions and fallible information are found out. Be truthful, and provide as much accurate information as you can about your income, employment history, current financial status, and the like. Your credit card application has more chances of getting approved if you tell the truth.

Credit card application is easy to understand, once you gain enough information about them and further your knowledge by asking experts in the field. There is no reason why you can't enjoy the benefits of owning a credit card for yourself.A Computer Engineering graduate and loves to travel. How to get a credit report for free

Posted by bharat

All Americans are entitled to free credit reports every year from each of the three major credit bureaus. The credit reports used to cost as much as $9.50 each.

The three major credit-reporting agencies, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian, are each required to provide consumers, upon request, a free copy of their credit report once every 12 months.

The reports will not be sent automatically. Each consumer must request reports one of these three ways:

  • Go to AnnualCreditReport.com, which is the only authorized source for consumers to access their annual credit report online for free.
  • Call (877) 322-8228.
  • Complete the form on the back of the Annual Credit Report Request brochure, and mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, P.O. Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281. The brochure, which can be ordered or printed, is available from the Federal Trade Commission. Click here for more information.

A credit report is simply a rundown of your payment history, listing your accounts, balances and your payment behavior for each. It is not a credit score, or FICO, the three-digit gauge of your creditworthiness used by lenders, employers and insurers. But credit scores do use the information on your credit reports in their calculations, so it's important to spot and correct inaccuracies as quickly as possible.

consumer credit counseling

Posted by bharat

Consumers are often in need of credit counseling and will reach out to experienced professionals to help them improve
their credit rating and repair bad credit. Often times the credit card interest rates and loan interest along with late fee
penalties can get out of control, thereby creating a deadly trap where making even the minimum payments won't be
enough to get your head above the water. An experienced consumer credit counselor can help you save money and
often times reduce your debt significantly. While credit cards are considered by many as a modern day necessity,
enabling convenience in making purchases, there is a downside that can strike even the most sincere of credit card
holders. High interest rates can choke your credit line and create a situation of ever increasing minimum monthly
payments. I know, I have been there and have been choked! A few late payments can bump up the credit card interest
rate, not to mention add late fees that seem unfair. While they may be unfair, the late fees are pure profit for the credit
companies and they certainly benefit from them at your expense. To get back into financial health you can work with a
consumer credit counseling service to help you negotiate a settlement where you can make smaller monthly
payments to a negotiated lower debt amount. While you can contact the credit companies yourself, an experienced
credit counselor will know the ins and outs of negotiating and can streamline the process to it's simplest conclusion.
The downside to negotiating debt settlements is that your line of credit will be closed and you'll possibly have a
blemish on your credit report. That is why an experienced consumer credit counseling service may be a smarter
alternative than repairing credit yourself because credit counselors know inside methods to reduce to negative impact
on your credit rating. Often credit counselors will even suggest methods to improve your credit rating. When I got into
trouble with my credit and had more debt than incoming income I had to resort to getting more loans to bail me out. I
was fortunate to have lots of equity in my house, but the band aid equity loans and lines of credit didn't solve the
problem, but rather added to my debt. An experienced consumer credit counseling service can help you weigh the
benefits of all the various methods of repairing bad credit and settling debts. They'll offer several programs that can
work towards solving your debt problems and improve your credit rating at the same time.Credit risk management
and consumer debt solutions are where the consumer credit counseling service can expertly guide you towards
achieving financial goals. Consumer credit counseling services can help negotiate reduced payment amounts with
lower interest and monthly payments by standing behind you and reinforcing your commitment to paying off your
debts. If you are having trouble making your monthly minimum payments towards your credit, it is highly suggested
you consider speaking to a consumer credit counseling service and see what debt solutions they can offer. They'll
give you options for debt solutions and you will at the very least walk away with ideas how you can solve your financial
problems and improve your credit rating.
